Below is a map of support for the SGP (Dutch Calvinists) by council area, with the shading referring to the percentage of votes the party usually polls at national elections. This is known as the Dutch Bible Belt. Many of these areas are rural or consist of small towns. In terms of the other Christian parties, the CDA (Christian Democrats) has its base in the south-east provinces, which are heavily Catholic. The ChristianUnion, a more moderate Protestant party in comparison to the SGP, is strongest in the northern provinces.
